The goal of the Flagstone State School Resource Centre is to enable our students to develop information skills and literary appreciations that will assist them to become informed decision makers and life long learners.
The Resource Centre consists of a library, computer laboratory and 2 conference rooms as well as a teachers’ resource room.
The library is vital to the learning environment of the children and teachers, motivating and supporting independent learning and resource based teaching,
providing equitable access to resources and encouraging an appreciation of literature.
The computer lab enables teachers to develop the skills of students in computer technology.
Library Hours
The Library is open from 8.30am – 3.30pm each school day.
All classes are assigned a library borrowing time but students may also come before or after school as well as at playtime.
Library Monitor
The Library monitor’s role is considered a position of trust and responsibility. Students’ are trained in library procedures and practices such as loaning, returning and the shelving of books; assisting students in research and referencing, to name a few. Nominations are sought from students in Years 5 & 6 in term 4 annually.
Borrowing
While we encourage children to take out 2 books each, there is no limit on the number of books that can be borrowed.
Loans
All loans are for ONE week and can be renewed at any time.
Lost or Damaged Books
All lost or damaged books are to be replaced or paid for.
Volunteers
Volunteers are always welcome in the Library, assistance can come in the forms of shelving, covering of books and repair of books.
