Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)

At Flagstone State School we enact a Responsible Behaviour Plan in order t o create and maintain a safe and positive learning environment that fosters academic and social success such that each individual student is given the opportunity to achieve to his/her full potential.

There are five systems utilised in PBL they include:

School wide
All students and staff members, across all settings

Classroom
Settings in which delivery of instruction is emphasised

Non-classroom
Settings in which the primary emphasis is on supervision and monitoring (e.g., sporting events, eating areas, walkways)

Student
Individual students whose behaviours are not responsive to school wide (Tier I) prevention

Family
Engaging and supporting family participation and access to resources of the school

The school has taken the issue of bullying as a very serious matter. Therefore in response to demonstrated bullying behaviours the school has educated students on how to respond to unsafe behaviours. These strategies are discussed with students every term as part of the student induction program and include such resources as the parents flyer, student anti-bullying brochure, Stymie and discussions on Assemblies.
