Big Day Out

17/09/2012

The Big Day Out is a day where year 6 and 7 students will be involved in activities, celebrating their individuality. Students will be participating in activities such as trust games, art and craft, amazing race, to name a few.

A big thank you to QUOTA International of Jimboomba, for donating monies to support the program's success.

It is in response to the needs of our students as they prepare to journey into high school, educationally. It is based on the fact that adolescents’ at this stage of development are highly self-conscious in regards to relationships with their peers and others.

We are trying to send a clear message that everyone is worthy, special and unique.

Our objectives include:

  • building resilience and respect within our students
  • increasing social cohesion and positive relationships
  • establishing and maintaining trust
  • learning to be responsible and useful
  • understanding tolerance and friendship among people
  • promoting active and healthy lifestyles
  • encouraging social and cultural participation in society
  • supporting and valuing diversity

We have seen the negative impact and prevalence of social media and its effects on the lives of youth today.  It is with this in mind, that we find it imperative that we provide students opportunities to acknowledge and explore not only the social differences amongst each other, but also how these influence and impact their daily experiences and impact on the world.
