2018 Camp


Dear Parents / Caregivers,


Congratulations on you and your child making the decision to attend the Leadership Camp for 2018. You are receiving this letter as you have made payments confirming your interest in camp, additional paperwork outlining consent for camp is also required.Students are required to bring the following:

What to Pack for Camp

On the bus:

·         Small back pack
·         Hat (broad brimmed)
·         Drink bottle containing water
·         Torch
·         Sunscreen
Please label all items clearly
        Insect Repellent
        Set of clothing for each day at camp plus 1 spare i.e.3x t-shirts (must cover shoulders), 3x shorts +
        Pyjamas – appropriate sleeping attire
        A throwaway set of clothes and shoes (Mission Mud Course)
        Underwear and socks for every day plus 1 extra pair of each
        Extra warmer clothes for evenings – jumper, long pants
        Bathers/swimmers (1 spare set is handy), SPF rash shirt or spare t-shirt and a beach towel
        2 pairs of enclosed shoes and an additional ‘wet’ pair to wear in the lake – closed footwear is
        compulsory for boarding the bus and to participate in all activities (Thongs or Crocs are not suitable)
        Sleeping bag, fitted sheet and pillow (pillow can be taken on the bus)
·         Toiletry bag containing brush / comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap in water proof container, shampoo,     
       conditioner, tissues, chaffing cream eg lanoline
        Bath towel
        Personal medication (to be handed into teachers – see below for details)
        Rain Coat (disposable is handy)
Campout Students will also require:
·         Tea Towel
·         Cutlery – Knife, Folk & Spoon
·         Plate, Bowl, Camp Mug, water bottle
·         Sleeping Mat (Foam – NO Blow ups)
What not to bring
·         Gum, lollies any other additional food items
·         Electronic devices including mobile phones, ipads, ipods, MP3 players, cameras
·         Jewellery, make up
·         Spray bottles or aerosols of any kind
·         Any items of value (as they will be confiscated immediately)
It is also very important that all children are provided with the medication they will need while on camp. Even those who are normally healthy are more prone to headaches etc. as they get so tired.
Please remember to have all medication/s labelled by the pharmacist with your child’s name and the required dosage, as we are legally not able to administer even a Panadol without this labelling.
Also, if you suspect your child may be coming down with an illness could you please take them to the doctor prior to camp, in case they need medication. You may also wish to consider providing your child with a travel sickness preventative as we have quite a long bus trip. The pharmacist can advise you on this.
All medication will need to be handed in prior to departure at the office.
Please note that the attached Camp Consent Forms:
·         Activity Consent Form and approval
·         Medical History
·         Camp Qld Student Medical and program consent form (2 pages)
need to be completed and returned to your teacher no later than the 2nd March 2018.
Teachers will begin to allocate cabins/ tents in negotiation with your child. If you have any questions regarding materials required for camp, cabin allocations and or campout please do not hesitate to contact your child’s classroom teacher.
